How To Care For Your Rattan
Rattan is a leading interior trend and it's not going anywhere, anytime soon. It brings tone and texture into any home with its relaxed look providing the perfect balance to timber and stone surfaces.

It’s important to know how to properly care for your natural wicker, cane and rattan to ensure the longevity of your pieces.
Protecting Your Rattan
DOs:
- Dust the surface weekly using a soft cotton cloth
- Vacuum rattan with a brush attachment
- Treat mildew or spillages immediately and dry the rattan extremely well to avoid mould
- Oil the rattan fibres with boiled linseed oil to avoid splitting
DON’Ts:
- Avoid using excessive water to clean rattan as it can distort the wicker and dry in an unnatural position
- Don't place rattan outside or in direct sunlight as it can cause damage and discolouration
- Never use polish or paint thinners
- Avoid dragging your furniture when moving it, always lift
